After The Second Week

Our House-Week One
As you can see in the photos, construction has begun in earnest on our house. We had our first orientation on Sept 14, and construction began the next day. This is where we stood after only 4 days of work. According to our Community Sales Manager, we are tentatively slated to close on the house on or around December 4th. By the end of this week, the house should be completely framed in and by next Monday, the roof should be on. The weather forecast for the Fall is warmer and drier than normal, which hopefully translates into construction staying on schedule.

House Update
We have our first pre-construction orientation meeting with the Superintendent scheduled for September 14th. We will get to walk through our homesite and view the foundation, which means actual construction should be starting soon after that! Pictures will be posted as soon as we can figure out how to download them to Vicki's computer!

Fan Fest
Sitting in the dugout
This weekend was the 11th annual Mariners Fan Fest at Safeco Field. This is a time when Mariners fans get a rare opportunity to go places and see things at "The Safe" that you normally aren't able to. A time when the Mariners are in first place in the AL West (okay that will change as soon as the season starts!). Among the activities you could participate in were a chance to run the bases, catch a fly ball in left field and try to hit a ball out of the park. You could also take a tour of the clubhouse, sit in the dugout and take a tour of the control room and see how they close the roof.
On Saturday I took Dallin to Fan Fest and we had a total blast. The event ran from 10am to 4 pm, but we didn't get there until about 1:15. We were there until 3:45, and had a chance to do a lot of fun things. We could have easily spent twice as much time as we did. The only thing I would change would be warmer weather. It was only around 40 degrees and by the time we headed to the car, we were both thoroughly chilled to the bone! All in all, it was a time well spent with my son.

Where has the year gone?
So I set up this blog almost a year ago, and didn't learn how to use it! So my New Year's resolution is to learn it and do it over the next year....I'll be counting on my siblings to make sure I figure this out. Stay tuned!
